I am grieved by the gruesome murder of Miss Iniobong Umoren who was murdered on her way to a job interview some days ago in Akwa Ibom State. I condemn this unlawful killing in strong terms.

I call on the Police and other security agencies in the State to ensure that those found culpable for the unlawful homicide of Miss Iniobong Umoren are prosecuted and brought to book. Justice should not just be done in this case but must be seen to have been done.

Miss. Iniobong Umoren was murdered despite all efforts made by friends, family and concerned citizens of Nigeria to ensure her safe return.

My deepest sympathy goes to the family of late Miss. Iniobong Umoren in this period of unimaginable distress and great loss.

Violence against the girl child is on the increase and it cannot be allowed to continue with impunity. I urge the authorities to do all in their power to ensure that violence against the girl child is reduced to the barest minimum and also enhance the safety of the girl child.
