By M. S. Mahuta Esq

If I were to be sued in a Court of law, I will hire Uyi Igunma Esq. to defend me….this is the nicest thing any lawyer can say of another.

It was on the 6th of May, 2020 that I received the shocking news of the lost Mr. Uyi Igunma Esq. to the cold hands of death. Late Uyi Igunma was before his untimely death, the founding and Principal Partner of Messrs UYI IGUNMA & CO. Katsina. Called to the Nigerian Bar in 1986. Late Uyi Igunma Esq. began his early career and started practicing law in the reknwon NA’ALHAJI CHAMBERS Katsina, a law firm founded by Alhaji Mamman Abubakar Danmusa Esq. one of the few high ranking Senior member of the Bar ever in Katsina State, before he later established his own law firm.

Late Uyi Igunma Esq became Notary public in 2012 and was a thorough Bar man and has held many positions most notably, past Chairman NBA Katsina Branch. He has received many awards for in his honour for his selfless services and commitments. He is truely an embodiment of widely acclaimed virtues of hard work and professional excellence for which his Chambers has come to be recognized over the years and believes, he, more than anyone else can lay claim to the status of the greatest beneficiary of Barr. Alhaji Mamman Abubakar Danmusa’s unmatchable encouragement and support of all potentially good advocates. He remains a firm believer in the necessity of sustaining the ideals, philosophies and legacies of excellence through industry, rule of law, justice equity, mutual professional collaboration and philanthropy to the less privileged for which he has always been known.
He is a specialist in Civil litigation, pre and post election matters, appeals, commercial, property practice and is reputably skilled in drafting and perfection of legal documents and agreements.

Being my former boss, I feel compelled to write this short piece of write up to join the others in sending sympathy to his family, friends and acquaintances.

I, as his Junior in Chambers for many years really appreciate the training and mentoring which I received from him. I will certainly miss him dearly and would be remembered not only for his incredible capacity to absorb pressure of work but also for his willingness to share his time and expertise with his Junior colleagues. It would be difficult to measure the impact he had on many people’s lives that he touched personally and professionally. Certainly his commitment to mentoring young lawyers surely leaves a wonderful legacy.

I am sorry to have lost such a great man.
I am saddened to have lost such a wonderful elder member of the Bar and committed boss…

My deepest condolences!

M. S. Mahuta Esq. ACIArb.
