Chief Judge of Zamfara State, Justice Kulu Aliyu has insisted on financial autonomy for the judiciary in the state.

According to Justice Aliyu, it is a notorious fact that majority of the states in Nigeria have not complied with constitutional provisions which guarantee the autonomy to the judiciary.

“A situation where a head of court goes cap in hand to ask for funds to perform his functions is very unhealthy,” the CJ added.
“A strong judiciary is an asset to the nation. I have no doubt that the State Governor, Dauda Lawal will give me that financial autonomy which is a vital ingredient for a strong and independent judiciary.”

The Chief Judge spoke during a workshop on enhancement of quick dispensation of justice organized by the State Ministry of Justice in Gusau, Zamfara State capital.
