As the world gears up for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, running from November 25 to December 10, 2024, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has taken a significant step toward advancing human rights.
On a mission to strengthen collaboration and advocacy, the NBA, led by its 1st Vice President and Chairman of the NBA Human Rights Institute, Sabastine Anyia, alongside 2nd Vice President Bola Animashaun and Assistant General Secretary Henry Barnabas Ehi, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Mr. Hashimu Argungu.
During the visit, Sabastine Anyia applauded the PSC Chairman for his ongoing efforts in championing human rights and urged him to leverage his experience as a retired police officer to drive reforms that protect citizens’ rights nationwide. He also called for a robust partnership between the PSC and the NBA to amplify the impact of human rights advocacy in Nigeria.
In response, Mr. Argungu expressed his commitment to the cause, pledging the Commission’s full support for initiatives promoting human rights. He emphasized that protecting human rights is a shared responsibility, underscoring the importance of collaboration between the NBA and the police in achieving lasting change.
This visit marks a promising start to the NBA’s 16 Days of Activism campaign, signaling a united front in the fight for justice and equality.
