Two women were on Thursday docked at an Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing a phone and hair attachments worth N600,000.

Dorcas Elegbede, 38, and Alice David, 35, are standing trial on a three-count of conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen goods.

Prosecutor Benedict Aigbokhan told the court that the defendants conspired and committed the offences between November 9 and November 20, at No. 28, Frank Zaki St., Bucknor, Lagos.

According to him, the first defendant, Ms Elegbede, stole an Oppo phone worth N100,000 and some hair attachments worth N500,000 and sold them to the second defendant, Ms David.

He said that the second defendant was aware that the items were stolen before buying from the first defendant.

Mr Aigbokhan said that the items belonged to the complainant, Josephine Nkwopara.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 287, 323 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The first defendant pleaded guilty to the offences while the second defendant denied committing any offence.

Magistrate K. A. Ariyo granted the second defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and one of the sureties must be a blood relative to the defendant.

The magistrate, however, adjourned the case until December 19 for facts and sentencing of the first defendant and trial of the second defendant.
