Dear President Osigwe,
Congratulations on your recent election as President of the Nigerian Bar Association. I wish you every success in your presidency.
The Law Society has enjoyed a close relationship with the NBA over many years and we look forward to continuing and strengthening this under your leadership
I was honoured to be invited to speak at your upcoming Annual General Conference and sad to decline since I will be in India at the time. However, I am pleased to report that our Vice-President, Richard Atkinson, will attend and speak in my place. He will also be travelling with staff from our international team. They look forward to meeting with you and colleagues on the fringes of the conference to discuss how our two associations can work together for the benefit of our members in the coming years.
I was also delighted to hear that you will be joining us in London in September/early October for our opening of the legal year celebrations. This event brings together over 70 bar leaders from around the world for ceremonial events and debates on issues facing the legal profession. We look forward to welcoming you then. Stephanie Brown, the Law Society’s policy adviser for Africa will be in touch to set up a time for US to meet during the programme.
In the meantime, please do reach out to her if we can assist your travels in any way, by emailing [email protected].
Your sincerely,
Nick Emmerson
President of the Law Society of England and Wales
