Gunmen suspected to be assassins have shot and killed the Shepherd-in-charge of a Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) in the Idiroko border town of Ipokia local government area of Ogun state.

The suspected assassins stormed the Sunday church service while the deceased, identified as Yomi Adetula, was delivering his sermon and shot him in the presence of fear-stricken congregants inside the church auditorium.

The horrifying incident occurred around 11 a.m. while preaching, according to a source.
Ogun-based activist lawyer, Bankole Alani, shared the tragic incident on his Facebook page, stating that Yomi Adetula was assassinated in his church this morning in the Idiroko area of Ogun State.

Multiple sources reported that a six-man assailant armed with AK-47 rifles and disguised in Celestial Church’s garments invaded the Hebrew Celestial Church located at the Odo Eran area of the Old Garage Road in Idiroko and let off a gale of bullets on the deceased pastor.

The assailants waited briefly to ensure he was dead before desecrating his body inside the church before leaving the scene.
The deceased is said to be the Idiroko Unit Commander of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-SAFE Corps, one of the community security outfits established during the administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

The State Commander of So-SAFE Corps, Soji Ganzallo, confirmed the incident, saying he received the news of Adetula’s assassination with a rude shock.

Ganzallo assured that the Corps would not relent, pledging the agency’s readiness to assist appropriate security agencies with the necessary information that could lead to the arrest of the people behind the savagery.
