As the clamour for the creation of states continues to reverberate across the country, stakeholders pushing for the creation of ANIM State to make the South-East be at par with other geo-political zones of the country, have continued their push both vigour.

This was because the stakeholders have resolved not to give up their pursuit without relenting.
They insisted that they were spurred to intensify their pursuit because of the economic viability of the proposed state and the desirability by all and sundry involved.

They maintained that their proposal for another state in the South-East was to balance the number of states in each geopolitical zone in the country.

Speaking on their behalf, the deputy chairman of the ANIM State Creation Movement and the oldest serving lawyer in Imo State, Chief Peter Mgbenwelu, said, “Having taken a critical look at the nationwide clamour for the creation of more states, we have resolved to continue to pursue the creation of ANIM State as the most desirable and economically viable, to balance the number of states in each geopolitical zone in the country.”

Present at the stakeholders’ meeting were the chairman of the movement, Architect Ignatius Ifeanyi; the deputy chairman and the Cock of Imo Bar, Chief Mgbenwelu; the Secretary, Chief Osita Nwaneri; and the deputy secretary, Chief Bath Awugosi.

Others were His Royal Highness, Eze John Nwosu, Hon. Mrs Callista Nwachukwu, Chief Maxwell Ujubuonu and Chief Green Iheka, among others.

Mgbewelu told South-East PUNCH correspondent after the meeting that the ANIM State creation movement has been existing for over six years, adding that the economic viability and desirability of the proposed state were second to none.
