Men of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a soldier, Tope Kazeem, for allegedly stabbing one Bunmi Omodele in Akure, the state capital.

Kazeem is said to be attached to the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Akure, and he is currently in police custody.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the suspect and his friend, Azeez Ayomide, had a misunderstanding with the victim at Adinlewa Area of Akure, leading to fisticuffs and the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim many times on his back.

The victim was said to have been rushed to the hospital where he is currently receiving treatment

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident, saying an investigation had commenced.

“The suspect (soldier) is in our custody. He fought with a civilian and stabbed him. We have begun an investigation,” the PPRO said.
