Ahead of the November 11 governorship election, the ruling All Progressives Congress, on Wednesday, kicked off its campaign with Vice President Kashim Shettima and the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, leading 16 governors to drum support for the reelection of Governor Hope Uzodimma.

Among the APC governors who attended the mega rally that took place at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, were the Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Governor Dapo Abiodun (Ogun); and Bassey Otu (Cross River).

Also present were two former governors of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim and Rochas Okorocha. A former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, was also in attendance.

In his speech, Uzodimma said he had transformed Imo State since taking over the government and asked the electorate to vote in for a second term to do more.

“Vote for APC. If you do this, I will improve on my achievements and performances of my first four years in office,” he said.

In their separate speeches, Shettima, Ganduje and Abiodun urged the Imo people to retain the APC in the seat of power.

“For the November 11 election in Imo, the only party Imo people should vote for is the APC. The last three and a half years of the Uzodimma-led administration has proven that APC is doing well here,” Ganduje said.

Earlier, the Vice President and the dignitaries paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers and also inaugurated a road in the Owerri North Local Government Area of the state.
