The National Assembly has stepped down the 2025 budget for the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

Chairman, Senate Committee on Information and National Orientation, Senator Kenneth Eze made this known in a viral video on X, Tuesday during the Ministry’s budget defence.

This comes as the committee summoned the minister in charge of the ministry, Mohammed Idris, to appear before it.
He noted that the funding for the ministry, as highlighted by the proposed budget, is nothing to write home about.

Senator Eze stressed that the proposed budget for a ministry as important as Information is a national embarrassment.

“The budget is nothing to write home about. It is more like a national embarrassment to give the ministry what is being budgeted for,”he said.

On her part, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan explained that the ministry’s budget was stepped down because the funding as presented is inadequate.

“I second the stepping down of the 2025 budget for the Ministry of Information and National Orientation because the funding as presented is inadequate. We also summon the Minister of Information and National Orientation for further review.”

DAILY POST reports that the Senate suspended plenary for two weeks to consider the N49.7 trillion 2025 budget proposal.
