RESTRICTION ON BUSINESS PARTICIPATION FOR CIVIL SERVANTS
In Nigeria, all persons in the Civil Service of the Federation and States are prohibitted from running any private business or trade except such business is Farming or agricultural business.
It is believed that where Civil servants are permitted to participate in business, their loyalty or dedication to service will wane.
But in reality, a good number of civil servants surreptitiously own businesses outside their jobs.
See Section 6 and Paragraph 10 to the 2nd Schedule to the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act.
