The House of Representatives has mandated its Committee on Works to investigate the abandonment of the N11 billion Numan-Jalingo Road contract awarded in 2017.

Hon. Sadiq Abbass Tafida moved the motion, highlighting that the road links key cities in North and Eastern Nigeria. Despite being awarded to DEUX Project Nig. Ltd with a 20-month timeline, no progress has been made in seven years.

Former Minister Hon. Mư’azu Sambo attributed delays to COVID-19, while the contractor cited security challenges and conflicting disbursement figures.

The lawmaker expressed concerns about criminal activities thriving due to the road’s deplorable state.
