The House of Representatives has directed the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, to provide urgent relief materials to communities, schools, and individuals affected by a recent rainstorm in the Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency of Nasarawa State.

The House, acting in response to a motion moved by Rep. Jeremiah Umaru, directed NEMA to promptly commence the reconstruction of destroyed schools and the rehabilitation of those affected by the rainstorm.

Umaru expressed concern over the destruction caused by the rainstorm, including damaged homes and disrupted education in several communities.

“The displaced persons are in dire need of immediate intervention in the form of medical supplies, temporary shelters and reconstruction to restore communities to their habitable state,” Umaru stated.

Recall that the rainstorm, which occurred on March 16, ravaged Government Girls’ College, Wamba, and Government Science School, Wamba, among others, causing extensive damage to facilities worth millions of naira.

Many communities in the constituency were also affected, with numerous individuals displaced and sustaining various degrees of injuries.
