The Premier League will reportedly ask government officials to reconsider their stance on football restarting at neutral venues – after ‘at least 12 clubs’ voted to oppose the idea.

Health committees confirmed on Monday that professional sport cannot resume until at least June 1, with plans being put in place to resume top flight fixtures by June 12.

According to Telegraph Sport, the bottom six clubs have been accused of trying to block a restart through their opposition of neutral venues.

But it’s now understood that Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham also share their sentiments and are unwilling to lose ‘home advantage’ during crucial games.

Senior officials had made it a condition of “Project Restart” that games were staged at neutral venues for safety reasons, amid concerns that fans would defy social distancing regulations by travelling to stadiums.

The Premier League are expected to address their concerns with the government this week, while sources claim ‘there is confidence’ within the game that fixtures will take place on a home and away basis.
