Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have apprehended a 35-year-old suspected cultist, Olamilekan Akojede, in Oja Oda, Yewa-North Local Government Area.
Akojede was arrested around 2:30 p.m. on Friday.The command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest in a statement posted on her X handle. She noted that Akojede, the leader of the Alora cult group, had been on the police’s watch list for some time.
Odutola added that Akojede, who has been known for terrorizing and causing panic in the community, will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
She said, “The DPO Oja Odan has apprehended an Alora confraternity No 1. One Olamilekan Akojede, a 35-year-old who has terrorised Oja Odan was picked up at about 1430hrs today and will be transferred to SCID, for discreet investigation.
“He has been causing panic and has been on the watch list.
Odutola reiterated the command’s commitment to eliminating cultism from the state and urged other cult members to reform and contribute positively to society.
“They should take a leaf from this person who has been apprehended, to accept the amnesty program and be better sons to their families.”
It’s worth noting that last week saw a resurgence of cult-related violence in the state, resulting in the loss of more than three lives.
