The Gombe State Commissioner of Police, CP Hayatu Usman, representing the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, presented cheques totalling over 80 million naira to 19 families of deceased police officers in the state.

This benevolent act was carried out under the aegis of the IGP Family Welfare and Group Life Assurance Scheme.

In a statement posted on Gombe state verified X handle @GombePoliceNG on Friday by the State PPRO, ASP. Mahid Muazu Abubakar, the ceremony took place at the Command Headquarters in Gombe.

The ceremony witnessed the gathering of the next of kin of police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty across the nation.

Usman, speaking on behalf of the police force, reiterated the unwavering commitment to the families of officers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety and well-being of the nation.

CP Hayatu Usman encouraged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds judiciously to meet their family needs, offering solace and assuring them of the police force’s enduring support.

He also took a moment to offer prayers for the departed souls of the fallen officers, wishing them eternal peace.

In response, a representative of the beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the families, lauding the Nigerian Police leadership for its compassionate outreach, and acknowledging the alleviation of the financial burden on the widows, children, and other dependents left behind by the deceased officers.
