PENALTY FOR DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL

In Nigeria, it is an offence to drive a motor vehicle on a Federal
highway under the influence of a drink or drugs to such an extent as to be incapable of having proper control of
such vehicle.

Where a person is convicted for this offence, in addition to the stipulated penalty, the court may orders that he be disqualified for a period of twelve months or for a greater period as the court may think fit, from holding or obtaining a driving licence.

PENALTY
-Imprisonment for two years, or to both such fine and imprisonment

-Fine of four hundred naira (N400)
