Penalty For Burial Of A Corpse In Houses & Residential Buildings.

In Nigeria,it is an offence to bury any corpse in any house, building premises, compound, or within a hundred yards of any dwelling‐house, or in any open space situated within a township without the consent of the President of Nigeria or the Governor of the State where such house or building is situate.

PENALTY
Imprisonment for 6 months.

See Section 246 of the Criminal Code Act.

The burial site (grave) must be far from water sources such as rivers or wells, to prevent potential contamination or flood.
