Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen scored a brace to hand Galatarsaray the maximum points against Samsunspor in the Turkish league to send them five points clear on top of the league.
The former Napoli striker continued his impressive run of form after scoring a brace on Thursday in the 3-2 win over Tottenham in the Europa League, the prolific star delivered again.
He needed just three minutes to score the opening goal from a glancing header which flew past the Samsunspor goalkeeper.
Five minutes after the break, Olivier Ntchan brought Samsunspor back into the game from the spot.
Osimhen added his second goal of the game with another excellent header to make it 2-1 for the hosts.
Former Chelsea star, Michy Batshuayi added gloss to the scoreline with a late goal to make it 3-1 for Galatarsaray.
Youssef Bennasser scored from the spot to make it 3-2 for Samsunspor, but it was too little too late to get them back into the game as Galatarsaray snatched the maximum points.
Osimhen has enjoyed a prolific time in Turkey since joining Galatarsaray on loan in the summer, scoring eight goals in nine matches in all competitions.
The 25-year-old dedicated the victory to Galatarsaray fans, and he is looking forward to the Super Eagles Nations Cup qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda next week.
Osimhen wrote on X: “The victory was important, we will go to the Super Eagles with this self-confidence. When we return, we have the power to win every match.”
The victory moved Galatarsaray five points clear of second-placed Fenerbache in the race for the Turkish league title.
