Human Rights Activist, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, has reacted to the re-appointment of HRN Hon. Justice Sidi Dauda Bage, JSC (rtd) as a member of the National Judicial Council.
In a tweet sighted by Legaldeskng (LDN), Prof. Odinkalu noted that the Sarkin Lafia is actually a staff in the Nassarawa State Public Service, and that, to the extent, membership of the NJC is remunerated from federal appropriations.
He also added that the Public Service Rules may preclude him from doing NJC appointment while he is Sarkin Lafia.
Recall that the Chairman of the NJC, who is also the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Dr. Justice I.T. Muhammad, CFR, has in a letter dated the 4th day of May, 2020, re-appointed the Emir of Lafiya as a member of the Council.
The #SarkinLafia is actually a staff in the Nassarawa State Public Service.

The appointment is to take effect from 1st June, 2020, and then last for a period of five years.
