The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the commencement of the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream One Orientation Course for prospective corps members.
The program is set to begin on June 26, 2024, with the Swearing-In Ceremony scheduled for July 2, 2024, and the Closing Ceremony on July 16, 2024.
Director General Brigadier General YB Ahmed has emphasized the importance of safety, urging prospective corps members to remain vigilant during their travels to the orientation camps. He also appealed to parents and guardians to ensure their wards avoid night travel.
In a statement released by Eddy Megwa, Director of Information and Public Relations, the NYSC outlined special considerations for married female prospective corps members. Those deployed to states where their husbands are not domiciled are instructed to report to the nearest NYSC Orientation Camp to request a change in their deployment state. They must present copies of their marital and other relevant documents as evidence during the registration period.
The NYSC has made arrangements to accommodate corps members in neighboring states due to capacity constraints. Some prospective corps members deployed to Lagos will attend their orientation course in Ogun and Osun camps. Similarly, those assigned to Zamfara will be redirected to Kebbi and Sokoto camps.
All prospective corps members are required to print and sign an addendum, which must be submitted during registration at the orientation camp. The NYSC strongly advises against night travel to ensure the safety of all participants.
