The Law Students Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN) has condemned with vehemence the alleged act of the Kogi State Governor in relation to the Kogi State Bursary 2019.
The position of LAWSAN, under the leadership of Emmanuel Nwobodo, was made known by Munir Shuaibu Ishaq, the National Director of the Directorate of Students’ Rights in a press statement dated 4th of December, 2019 and made available to TheNigeraLawyer (TNL) not LegalDeskNg .
Munir says within the period of April to November, 2018 the students of Kogi State origin were made to pay N650 as a processing fee yet till date the bursary Hasn’t been released neither have their monies been refunded by the Kogi State government despite repeated demands by the National Association of Kogi State Students.
Ultimatum was therefore given to the Kogi State Governor within which he shall release the bursary or refund the students their monies. Munir says:
“In view of the above, the Law Students Association of Nigeria Directorate of Student’s Rights condemn with rigour the act of the Kogi State government and hereby declare with vehemence an ultimatum from today to 31st of December, 2019 within which the governor of Kogi State shall release the bursary or in the alternative refund the processing fee to the students, failing of which instantaneous legal action shall be Instituted with strong force against the governor of Kogi State.”
