The Nigeria Police Force, Nasarawa State command, on Saturday confirmed the arrest of two suspects in connection with the assault of a young woman by a group of persons in the state.
A viral video on social media which was seen by SaharaReporters depicted a group of people beating a yet-to-be-identified lady, who was stripped naked, battered with sticks, and had her garments cut with scissors by her abusers who drove her to the middle of a thicket.
It was gathered that the incident began with an argument between the young woman and her companion over who had the right to a certain man’s phone number.
“So apparently, her friend stole a man’s number from her phone and she caught her, she slapped her and shit and then the friend called her siblings and father to beat her… You guys don’t even want to see the rest of this video…. It’s humiliating,” one of the Twitter users, @AgathaAkaahar, who shared the video, explained.
The arrest of the two suspects was announced by the Nasarawa State Police Command via a tweet on Saturday morning, adding that the vehicle used to drive the lady to the location where she was beaten was also recovered.
