ANigerian businessman, Henrich Bankole Akomolafe has accused the Federal Capital Development Authority of demolishing his poultry farm.Nigerian Businessman Accuses Abuja Authorities Of Destroying His N150Million Poultry Farm, Killing Over 5,000 Birds Without Prior Notice

Akomolafe made the accusation in a series of posts on his X (formerly Twitter) handle.

According to the former opposition Peoples Democratic Party House of Representatives candidate in Ekiti, the poultry farm located around Lokogoma area in the nation’s capital was demolished without any prior notice from the authority.

He added that he was in possession of all papers, including the certificate of occupancy (C of O) for the property. He, therefore, asked for the rationale behind the destruction.

Sharing videos, he posted, “I am heartbroken & angry. Yesterday, my N150 million investment in a poultry farm located in Lokogoma, Abuja, was DESTROYED by the guys from the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).“NO WARNING, no prior notice, just pure destruction and over 5,000 birds are dead.“How can this happen in a country where I followed every legal process? Let it be clear that all papers, including the (C of O), were obtained and yet, some individuals in this government felt it was okay to destroy what I’ve worked for—an investment of a lifetime.
“This isn’t just my loss – over 50 workers are now thrown out of jobs and business! In these hard times, Families will now suffer because of the EVIL of some individuals operating under the guise of FCDA.

“Tell me why I can’t farm on my private property? Why? Why? I ask—where does the government expect me to start from? Why should I ever think of investing in Nigeria again when this can happen overnight? This is how people fall into depression. But for God, I don’t know how I and my family would even be standing right now.

“I hope FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike is seeing the damage being done under his administration. I hope Madam First Lady who asked us to start farming can see the rubbish going on. I hope no one will accuse me of treason when I carry placards because this is TREASON against me.”

When contacted on the phone by Newsmen for comments, Director of Press, Office of the FCT Minister, Anthony Ogunleye, declined, maintaining that he adheres to a strict policy of only engaging in face-to-face interviews.

Over the years, the nation’s capital, Abuja, has witnessed widespread demolition of properties valued at billions of naira, affecting both high-end and low-income neighborhoods.

Regrettably, these demolitions have often been shrouded in controversy, with persistent allegations of official malfeasance, coercion, and corruption involving both enforcement agencies responsible for physical development control and residents.

The demolition exercises have left countless residents reeling from the loss of their homes and livelihoods, sparking claims of extortion and violence. The situation has raised fundamental questions about the accountability and transparency of government agencies tasked with regulating urban development.

In a recent development, residents of the Committee on Resettlement and Development Layout (CRD), Lugbe, Airport Road in Abuja, have made a passionate appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyeson Wike.

They are seeking urgent intervention and redress regarding the alleged demolition of their homes and forceful takeover of their land.
The affected residents contend that these actions have resulted in untold hardship, displacement, and financial ruin.

They are demanding justice, transparency, and compensation for their losses.
