1. Many villagers were feared dead while several others were injured as a fighter jet targeting Lakurawa terrorist group mistakenly bombed two communities in Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The affected communities were Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa. According to locals, the incident occurred around 7am on Wednesday.
2. Gunmen launched an attack on cattle rearers in the Heipang area of Barikin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State on Wednesday, killing several cattle and injuring many. According to the state chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, Ibrahim Babayo Yusuf, the gunmen stormed the area and started shooting sporadically, causing the rearers to flee.
3. A gas pump cylinder used by a tyre technician, popularly known as vulcaniser, opposite Kpakungu police division, Minna, Niger State, exploded on Wednesday, killing one of his apprentices, Haji. The explosion also reportedly injured the vulcaniser, identified as Mohammed, his son and one other apprentice.
4. The Gombe State Police Command confirmed 22 persons injured after a car rammed into a Christian procession on Wednesday in Tumfure community, near Gombe. The command’s Spokesperson, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Gombe on Wednesday.
5. The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has announced plans to acquire 24 M-346 Fighter Ground Attack jets and 10 AW-109 Trekker Helicopters to boost its air capabilities in the fight against insurgency. The Chief of Air Staff, CAS, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar made this known at the Christmas luncheon with NAF personnel on Wednesday in Maiduguri.

7. Ogun State Police Command has apprehended at least four suspects for allegedly stealing a motorcycle and a gas cylinder in the Ajuwon community and Odeda areas. 9. The suspected killer of Niger State ex-permanent secretary, 18-year-old Fatiha Abdulhakeem has died in the Minna General Hospital, the Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, has said. Abiodun made this known on Wednesday when he confirmed that the suspect, Abdulhakeem, was rushed to the Minna General Hospital after he complained of severe stomach ache.
