1. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed board chairpersons for 42 federal organisations and a Secretary to the Board of the Civil Defence, Immigration, and Prisons Services. This was contained in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the presidential spokesperson on Friday.
2. President Bola Tinubu has commended the Finnish government for its intervention in the case of Simon Ekpa, whose actions and statements have been deemed divisive. Speaking at the State House in Abuja on Friday while receiving the Letters of Credence from Finland’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Ms. Sanna Selin, Tinubu said the FG will not tolerate divisiveness or activities threatening the nation’s unity.
3. Delta State Government, Friday, confirmed the outbreak of cholera at Ikpide-Irri community, Isoko South Local Government Area of the State. It however, said no death had been recorded as a result of the outbreak in the area as was being insinuated. Reports in multiple sources said five persons died as a result of the cholera outbreak in the community.
4. The Edo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has announced its relocation from Benin City, the state capital, to Abuja, the nation’s capital. This was disclosed in a notice by the tribunal’s secretary, Mu’azu Bagudu.
5. The Kano State Government has accused the police of attempting to disrupt an annual religious event. Addressing journalists at the Emir’s Palace on Friday evening, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, dismissed the alarm earlier raised by the police that terrorists were planning to attack critical areas in the state.
6. A United States-bound flight operated by American Airlines, United Airlines, developed technical hitches mid-air, forcing the aircraft to return to Lagos. The incident happened on Thursday with a few of the passengers injured from the impact of the incident.
7. A Lagos-based musician of Ilorin origin, Mukaila Senwele, famed for his iconic phrase “Koni Da Fun Ebo To Se Costay,” has passed away. A family source confirmed that the artist died on Friday night. Senwele who hailed from Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, was celebrated for his exceptional performances and unique entertainment style, which endeared him to many socialites.
8. Bandits have reportedly killed a 27-year-old, Piti Ezekiel, and abducted five persons in Akansan Garmadi, Rumaya Community, Kwassam ward in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The National Secretary, of Kauru Local Government Area CDAs Forum, Danbaba Katuka disclosed this on Friday.
9. A Federal High Court sitting in Abakaliki, Ebonyi capital, has awarded sum of N100 million damages against the expelled Ali Odefa, former National Vice-Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Southeast Zone. The court on Friday also restrained the police and Odefa from arresting, intimidating the Party’s Ward Executives.
10. The police have arrested two additional suspects in connection with the abduction of Mrs. A. Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant Inspector General, AIG Hakeem Odumosu. In a statement on Friday, Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi revealed that the two new suspects—Agbojule Smart, 27, and Keleke Michael, 30—were apprehended by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Special Squad.
