1. The Federal Government on Sunday ruled out the possibility of restricting foreign travellers from visiting Nigeria despite travel bans on the country by Canada, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Singapore and Hong Kong. The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, said this in an interview on Sunday.
2. The management of Dowen College has expressed its readiness to assist the Lagos State Ministry of Education and the Nigerian Police Force in unraveling the cause of death of its 12-year-old student, Sylvester Oromoni. The School described the incident as tragic and unfortunate incident, adding that Sylvester’s untimely death requires a proper investigation.
3. Tragedy hit the family of a newlywed couple in Bayelsa after nine persons, including the groom’s parents and his sibling, died in an auto crash. The accident occurred at the tollgate along Glory Land drive in Igbogene axis of Yenagoa, the state capital.
4. Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, met with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, National Leader of the ruling party, on Sunday. The meeting, which held amid the crisis rocking the APC in Kano, took place in Lagos.
5. The Police in Lagos on Sunday confirmed the death of eight children who mistakenly locked themselves in an abandoned car while playing at Adelayo Str., Agunlayo, Jah Micheal, near Magbon area of Badagry. The Spokesman for the Lagos Police Command, Mr Adekunle Ajisebutu, in a statement, said the incident occurred on Saturday.
6. The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested General Idris Bello Dambazau (Rtd.), Managing Director of Kano state’s Consumer Protection Council (KCPC), over allegations of economic sabotage. It was gathered that Dambazau was arrested for allegedly sealing off seven filling stations in the state capital, an act the secret police said was unilateral and unconstitutional.
7. The Woman Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State and eight others were on Saturday killed in a fatal motor accident along the Glory Drive of Igbogene area of Yenagoa, the State capital.All victims of the fatal accident were on their way back to Sagbama from Yenagoa where they had gone to attend a wedding ceremony.
8. President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Abuja after participating in EXPO 2021 DUBAI in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The President was received on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Sunday afternoon, by government functionaries, led by his Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari.
9. The Federal Government has begun moves to prevent an industrial action in the country’s public universities as the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ three-week deadline ended on Sunday. The Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba stated this in an interview on Sunday.
10. Police operatives and Vigilante in Oleh Division, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State have arrested a twenty-six-year-old man, Davidson Odigho at Irri roundabout in Oleh. The suspect was arrested over the alleged failed kidnap attempt of a man who returned home from Europe.
