The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, has lauded the courage of lawyers who remain committed to upholding the rule of law, defending the oppressed, and ensuring justice prevails despite the challenging times facing the country. Osigwe made this remark at the annual dinner and award night of the Kaduna chapter of the NBA, held to honor two distinguished members of the profession: O.I. Habeeb SAN and MI Abubakar SAN.

The event, themed “Dinner for the Courageous Bar Men,” celebrated the resilience and commitment of legal practitioners who continue to defend justice amidst adversity. Osigwe commended the Kaduna branch for its consistent efforts in promoting the rule of law, fostering unity among members, and prioritizing the welfare of legal professionals in the region.

In his address, the Chairman of the NBA Kaduna branch, Godwin Okoriko Ochai, Esq., emphasized the importance of the exceptional individuals being honored, whose achievements reflect the brilliance and resilience of Kaduna lawyers. Under Ochai’s leadership, the branch has fostered camaraderie and collaboration, uniting members from diverse backgrounds.

The event saw the recognition of notable awardees, including Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, and other distinguished legal professionals. Posthumous awards were also presented to Maxwell Kyong and Yunus Uztaz SAN. The evening celebrated the ongoing efforts of the Kaduna branch in advancing the legal profession and its commitment to justice and unity.
