Managing Partner of SPA Ajibade & Co. Dr. Babatunde Ajibade, SAN has called on Legal Practitioners in the country to collectively protect the legal profession from threats which are capable of leading to the extinction or adulteration of the profession.
Dr Ajibade while delivering his keynote address at the NBA Onitsha Branch Law Week opening ceremony held at the Louis Mbanefo Bar Centre, High Court Complex, Onitsha, urges lawyers to close ranks and unite in a bid to restore the lost glory of the profession.
” Our profession is facing many threats today which are capable of putting g us all out of business if we do not collectively unite to face these threats. Quacks have infiltrated our practice, indiscipline and other ethical issues have battered the image of the profession and clients are fast losing confidence in our judicial system and seeking alternatives to their legal problems” he said.
” As a Bar, we must u tie and seek Remedies to these issues us with the aim of raising the standards of the profession, undertake internal regulatory reforms and reposition the Bar for greater efficiency. He added.
The Learned silk also appreciated the chairman of the NBA Onitsha branch, Mr. Ozo Ben Erinne and his executives for a well-organised law week and activities geared towards benefitting the members of the branch.
