The Nigerian Bar Association, Dutse Branch has elected and sworn in its new executive to pilot the affairs of the Branch for the next two years.
Legaldeskng recalls that the Paul Usoro, SAN, led administration had dissolved the former branch executive when its tenure elapsed and appointed a caretaker committee which was chaired by Baffa Alasan, who has been manning the affairs of the Branch until today.
The election which was keenly contested returned two directors from the Ministry Of Justice (MOJ) Jigawa State, as Chairman and Vice-Chairman.
Nuhu Suleiman Tafida was elected as the Chairman while Adamu Mukhtar was elected as Vice Chairman. Equally, Hafizu Sule Abubakar was elected as the Branch Secretary.
Alasan, speaking with our correspondence, said the election was free and fair.
In another development, a candidate who was disqualified by the election committee, Garba Abubakar, had filed a suit which is before Justice A.M Sambo of High Court N0. 4, contending the ground for his disqualification.
Sequel to the election, a notice dated 20th Sept 2020, had purportedly emanated from the Permanent Secretary/Solicitor General, Ministry of Justice Jigawa State, Hajiya Hauwa Zakar, sighted by TheNigeriaLawyer asking “all Counsel in the Ministry of Justice for the interest of justice and integrity of the legal Profession and the Ministry not to foist a fait accompli on Court of law.”
