Says Ibrahim Mohammed’s Appeal Pending Before Western Zone Appeal Panel
Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has directed the immediate suspension of the NBA Auchi Branch Elections which has been scheduled to hold.
This is consequent upon the appeal lodged by one Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed, Esq., to the NBA Election Appeal Panel of the Western Zone meant to handle appeals emanating from the decisions of the Election Committees of NBA Branches.
Meanwhile, the direction to suspend the Auchi Branch Election is contained in a letter dated 6th day of June, 2020 and signed by the NBA General Secretary, Mr. Jonathan Gunu Taidi, Esq. The letter was directed to the Chairman of the Election Committee, Auchi Branch.
The letter reads:
RE: LIST OF ELIGIBLE/QUALIFIED CANDIDATES FOR THE NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION (NBA) AUCHI BRANCH: CONSTITUTIONAL ISSUES ARISING THEREFROM
Your response in respect of the captioned subject matter dated 5th June, 2020 refers.
The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Paul Usoro, SAN constituted Appeals Panels to handle appeals arising from decisions of various Election Committees set up by Branches of the NBA.
The appeal under reference is pending before the Panel (Western Zone). In the circumstances, you are hereby directed to suspend the scheduled election for Auchi Branch pending the determination of the appeal by Ibrahim Mohammed, Esq.
