Sequel to the cry by a good standing member of Nigerian Bar Association, Anaocha branch, Innocent Maikaho, Esq, stating that he was flagrantly and brutally assaulted by the police officers, led by the Area Commander A.C.P. kingdom Aka Otuonye at the Awka, Area Command, Anambra state of Nigeria on Friday, November 8, 2024, in the course of discharging his sacred duty as a legal practitioner representing his client(Scrap Dealers Association of Nigeria).The family bar in line with her philosophical principle of “INJURY TO ONE IS INJURY TO ALL” and the parent body’s motto which reads thus:”PROMOTING THE RULE OF LAW”, has risen to the occasion.

Responding to the alleged ugly and dastard incident,the Publicity Secretary and also member of Human rights Committee of Nigerian Bar Association,Anaocha branch( Family Bar),Kevin Ezeoke, Esq, said that the branch is dismayed and highly provoked and is not and will not treat the ugly development with kid gloves.

Ezeoke revealed that the Human Rights Committee of the branch led by one of the eminent members and a member of the General Council of the Bar, Chief Obi Lawrence Anizoba, Esq has swung into action by demanding from relevant and appropriate authorities thorough investigation into the alleged act to ensure justice is served.

Ezeoke further said that “The police has the constitutional and statutory duties to detect,prevent and prosecute the commission of crime but in so discharging such duties must succumb to the rubrics of the law. She must tame and wean herself of pugnacity and self-help tendencies.
