The Executive Committee of the Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria (MULAN), Lagos Branch formally inaugurated its Publicity Committee on Mnoday, 18th November 2024, during a virtual ceremony. This 6-member team has been entrusted with the mission to elevate and rebrand MULAN’s image, highlighting the association’s purpose and values to the broader public.

The Chairman of MULAN Lagos Branch, Mr. Adebayo Adwunmi Ismail, described the event as a “new dawn” for MULAN Lagos, emphasizing that the chapter’s influence and relationship with other professional bodies should be so dynamic and interconnected that when MULAN Lagos “sneezes, other associations and the general public must catch a cold.”

The committee has been tasked with developing a comprehensive annual action plan, outlining the goals, strategies, and key activities for enhancing the association’s public profile. This plan will encompass all MULAN programmes, intending to impact the community through commendable and strategic initiatives.

Drawing a parallel with biology, the MULAN Lagos Chairman likened the Publicity Committee to the “mitochondria, the powerhouse of a living cell,” signaling that the committee’s energy and drive will be essential to MULAN Lagos’s growth and recognition. If the committee fulfills its role effectively, MULAN Lagos is expected to become a leader among similar organizations, such as the NBA national and other reputable legal associations.

In response, Mr. Jeleel, the Chairman of the newly inaugurated Publicity Committee, assured that his team is prepared to “hit the ground running.” He affirmed that MULAN members can expect impactful and consistent activities on a daily and weekly basis, as the committee works to fulfill its mandate.

Quoting the popular saying, “To whom much is given, much is expected,” the Publicity Committee called for the unwavering support of the executive committee in disseminating its messages across other platforms, amplifying MULAN’s voice and reaching a larger audience.

Among their top priorities, the committee plans to revamp the MULAN Lagos website and introduce tech-savvy innovations within the association’s secretariat. This tech-driven approach aims to position MULAN Lagos as a modern and influential body in the legal community.

With the inauguration of the Publicity Committee, it’s clear that MULAN Lagos is set on a progressive path toward greater visibility and engagement with both its members and the public.
