An Ojo Magistrates Court in Lagos on Wednesday convicted and sentenced a 20-year-old man, Jelili Isiaka, to 18 months imprisonment for stealing a motorcycle valued at N700,000.

Isiaka was arraigned by the police before Magistrate L.K.J. Layeni on a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and breach of peace and he pleaded guilty to the charge.

Following the guilty plea by the defendant, the court found him guilty as charged and sentenced him to six months imprisonment on each of the three counts.
The court sentenced the convict after the review of the facts by the prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche.

According to Uche, the convict and one other still at large conspired and committed the offences on August 6 at Ajangbadi in Ojo.

Earlier, the prosecutor informed the court that the convict stole a CT 110 Korean motorcycle valued at N700,000, belonging to one Mr Chijioke Ezriem.

According to him, the convict brought out bundles of papers wrapped in a nylon bag, pretending it to be money and used it to pay for the motorcycle.

He told the court that the convict bolted with the motorcycle but was eventually arrested by the police.

Uche said the offences contravened provisions of sections 168, 287, and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
