The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has pledged to take important steps to protect its players going forward in the wake of the horrific event involving the Super Eagles in Libya.

Ademola Olajire, the NFF’s Director of Communications, spoke exclusively to Abuja City Journal on Wednesday about the federation’s immediate response and future intentions.
Olajire confirmed that the NFF has engaged trauma specialists to support the affected players.

“We have engaged our psychologists who specialize in trauma to have sessions with the players. The players are all now at their clubs,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of mental health care following the distressing experience.

To prevent similar incidents in the future, the NFF has pledged to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Olajire elaborated, “In the future, we [NFF] will work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure the safety of the players abroad.” This proactive approach aims to establish protocols and ensure that Nigerian footballers have the necessary support and security during international engagements.
