An Abuja-based legal practitioner, Vincent Adebayo Adodo, has issued a formal demand to the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), calling for the immediate repair of the failed portions of the Abuja-Keffi Expressway.

In a letter addressed to FERMA’s Managing Director, Adodo emphasised the critical condition of the road, particularly from Nyanya Checkpoint to Muhammadu Buhari International Market and Orange Market in Karu, Nasarawa State.

“I wish to bring to your notice and that of your esteemed agency the general deplorable situation of a portion of the Abuja-Keffi Expressway,” Adodo stated.

He explained that the portion of the road, a vital transport route for thousands of public servants and private sector workers living in the Nyanya-Mararaba axis, had been left in a state of disrepair, causing daily hardship for commuters, particularly during the rainy season.

“It baffles any reasonable person that a strategic passage such as the road in question can be abandoned and allowed to suffer dilapidation of this magnitude,” Adodo noted.

He attached photographs of the affected portions of the road to support his demand and urged FERMA to “assess the current situation of the bad portions of the road.”

Adodo stressed that FERMA, in line with its statutory mandate, must commence repairs immediately, as the road connects the Federal Capital Territory with Nasarawa State. He issued a seven-day ultimatum for FERMA to act, warning that failure to do so would result in legal action.

“Kindly take note that in the event of the failure and/or negligence of your agency to heed my demand within a reasonable time of 7 days… I will not hesitate to institute legal action,” Adodo concluded.
The letter reflects growing frustration among commuters who rely on the Abuja-Keffi Expressway for daily travel, with calls for swift action to alleviate the suffering of road users.

The statement reads, “I am a legal practitioner and Notary Public for Nigeria. I practice law in Abuja while I reside in the satellite part of Abuja in the Nyanya – Mararaba axis.

“I present warm greetings to you, the management and staff of your agency.

‘I wish to bring to your notice and that of your esteemed agency the general deplorable situation of a portion of the Abuja- Keffi Expressway beginning from Nyanya Checkpoint, Abuja through the road to Muhammadu Buhari International Market, Orange Market, Karu, Nasarawa State.
