The Lagos State Judiciary yesterday released additional directives for the full resumption of the State High Courts and Magistrates Courts in Lagos.
In a circular signed by the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Hon. Justice Kazeem Olanrewaju Alogba, all courts are directed to resume duties fully on Monday, 28th day of September, 2020.
“I, Hon. Justice Kazeem Olanrewaju Alogba, Chief Judge of Lagos State, hereby direct that with effect from Monday, 28th September 2020, the High Courts and Magistrate Courts in Lagos State shall resume full operations.
“All registries of Courts are to accept all processes for filing.”
All COVID-19 protocols are to be fully enforced, wearing of face masks, washing of hands and use of sanitizers with strict compliance with social distancing protocol.
All suspects brought to Court from the Police Stations and Correctional Centres must be masked, otherwise they will be refused entry into the Court premises.
Only counsel, parties and witnesses whose cases are called will be allowed into the Courtrooms in turns.
All Lawyers and Litigants for remote hearings must be properly dressed for appearance in Court.
All Judges and Magistrates shall be sitting in their respective Courts for remote hearings.
There shall be an attendance register for persons coming into the Courtrooms for easy contact tracing, should remedial measures be necessary.
