Kwara State is set to introduce 5,000 commercial electric tricycles to ease transportation issues amid rising fuel costs. EV Mass Transit Solutions’ Director General, James Clinton, announced the plan at a stakeholders’ meeting in Ilorin. The pilot scheme will start with 500 tricycles in Ilorin before expanding statewide by December.
The eco-friendly tricycles have a 7-seat capacity, travel 80 kilometers on a single charge, and require no fuel or oil. Payment plans allow for a 10% down payment, with the balance payable within 30-36 months. Manufacturers will provide spare parts and repair services.
Kwara State Tricycle Owners Association chairman Saliu Giddado assured investors of recovering their investments and urged beneficiaries to make timely payments.
