Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister, has described the governorship election in Kogi State as a daylight robbery against the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had on Monday declared Governor Yahaya Bello of the All Progressives Congress, APC, winner of the Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

INEC’s Returning Officer in the state, Prof. Ibrahim Garuba had declared Bello winner after polling 406,222 votes to defeat his closest rival, Musa Wada of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who scored 189,704 votes.

INEC’s Returning Officer for the election and Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Professor Ibrahim Garuba, said Bello had been declared winner, having scored the highest number of votes during the poll conducted on Saturday.

However, Fani-Kayode faulted the result announced by the electoral umpire.

In a tweet, the former Minister also said PDP’s loss at the Bayelsa State governorship election was self-inflicted.

“What happened in Kogi was nothing but day-light robbery. What happened in Bayelsa was self-inflicted. May God deliver Nigeria,” he tweeted
