A federal High court sitting in Calabar, on Tuesday granted an Abuja based lawyer Joseph Odok, bail, TheNigerialawyer reports.

Odok was arrested by two police officers in Abuja and was taken to Calabar, Cross River and has been in detention since September 2019.

The court giving its ruling in the suit marked FHC/CA/78C/19, granted him bail in the sum of 10m with 2 sureties in like sum.

“The Defendant is admitted to bail as he has proved exceptional circumstance to warrant the Court’s discretion in his favour.”

Other conditions for his bail is that one surety shall be a Civil servant of level 13 while the 2nd surety shall be a close relation to the Defendant.

Joseph Odok, a native of the Calabar, is an avowed critic of Governor Ben Ayade.
