The Jigawa state branch of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has withdrawn its earlier notice for a nationwide strike. In a new letter dated September 23rd, JUSUN’s secretary Comrade Ya’u Kanta informed the Nigerian Bar Association’s Jigawa chapter that the planned industrial action has been called off.

JUSUN stated that any official nationwide strike can only be declared after deliberation by the union’s National Executive Council. As such, the previous call for a strike starting September 25th is no longer valid

The union regretted any inconvenience caused by their earlier strike notice which was communicated through a letter on September 20th. JUSUN clarified there is currently no judiciary staff strike.

When the JUSUN NEC meets to decide on a nationwide action, a new notice will be issued accordingly. For now, the planned strike has been withdrawn much to the relief of court users and judiciary stakeholders across the country.
