*IS IT LEGAL FOR THE SUPREME COURT OF NIGERIA TO HEAR A CASE AND GIVE JUDGMENT IMMEDIATELY. *
The Supreme Court of Nigeria is the apex and final court. Affairs of Supreme Court of Nigeria is guided by the laws of Nigeria. Going by the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Supreme Court of Nigeria was created and the Chief Justice of Nigeria has powers and rights to make rules for regulating the practise and procedure of the Supreme Court.
Clearly by the Rules of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, the Supreme Court has powers to deliver judgment in the open court on the hearing of an appeal or at a later date. Hence, the Supreme Court can hear an appeal and deliver its judgment on same, immediately.
My authorities are sections 236, 318 and 319 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 and Order 8 Rule 14 of the Supreme Court Rules, 1985.
