Socio-cultural organizations, the Igbo Peoples Congress (IPC) and the Igbo Aborigines have blamed killer herdsmen, bandits and the Islamic extremist for the wanton killings in the southeast zone.

In a statement jointly signed by their respective spokesmen, Comrade Obisike Chidi and Okey Colbert and made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday, the Igbo organizations accused President Muhammadu Buhari and some Northern leaders of allegedly supporting the terrorists in the North over the years and not doing enough to curb their activities and killings all over the country.

The groups berated the Northern Elders Forum for the disaster in the north and by extension the country as a whole.

The Igbo Peoples Congress (IPC) and the Igbo Aborigines further slammed religious rulers, traditional rulers and political leaders of the Northern extraction for keeping quiet amid the terror in the North which is transported to the Southeast in particular.

The Board of Trustees Chairman of the World Igbo Peoples Assembly, Mazi Chuks Ibegbu, on his part, has lamented the killing of innocent Igbos in Imo State.

Ibegbu asked Igbo deities and gods to take vengeance on the killer herdsmen and other killers in Imo and the entire Igboland.

He noted that Igbos have high regard for human life but alleged that Nigerian security agents were going about wasting innocent blood.

Ibegbu in a statement on Tuesday asked Igbo leaders to meet immediately to chart a roadmap to end the calamity in Imo State and Igbo land.

“In the past, we had peaceful Fulani herdsmen, but today killer ones from all over Africa and here killing our people and raping our women, Ibegbu lamented.

He called on all Igbos to be security conscious and protect their lands at all cost.
