Another Nigerian has been a good ambassador of the country on the international scene. Ifeanyi Odogwu, has won Lawyer of the Year award at the British Nigeria Law Forum.
In a post on his twitter page, he said he feels honoured and happy for the recognition his peers and community has given him.
“I’m honoured to have won the award for Lawyer of Year at the British Nigeria Law Forum! Congratulations to all the nominees, and thank you to those who nominated me, and the judges. It means a lot to be recognised by my peers and my community,” he said.

He was Called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple as a Lord Diplock Scholar in 2011 and he began his pupillage in October 2012, at one of the largest barristers’ chambers in England, Garden Court Chambers.
Ifeanyi specialises in crime, human rights, employment, Nigerian and sports law. He has already worked on some high profile cases such as former Guantanamo Bay detainee Binyam Mohammed, Shell’s large environmental lawsuit for oil spills in Nigeria and the money laundering trial of former governor of Nigeria’s Delta State, James Ibori.
As a Registered Lawyer at the Football Association, Ifeanyi is authorised to represent football players and clubs. He is a researcher at the renown human rights NGO Reprieve and is also a consultant at StopWatch, an action group formed of leading organisations from civil society, lawyers and academia.
Ifeanyi has received multiple awards in recognition of his early success, including Diane Abbot MP’s LSBC award for Outstanding Achievement in 2011, and the Nnebisi Elegant Ladies Club of Asaba (UK) award for Young Achiever of Asaba Community in 2012.
Ifeanyi holds a First Class honours degree in LLB Law from Kingston University, and a Criminal Justice Minor from the University of North Carolina Charlotte.
Ifeanyi was shortlisted in the Newcomer category of the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Awards 2018. He has been shortlisted in the ‘Future Leaders’ award category for Outstanding Contribution to Diversity and Inclusion by the Chambers Bar Awards 2019.
