The leadership of the Taraba Concerned Youths Forum (TCYF), has called on the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to as a matter of urgency investigate the petition written and submitted to its headquarters on allegations of corrupt practices leveled against the deputy Senate minority leader, Emmanuel Bwacha.

The petition, which according to them was written by the Southern Taraba concerned youths against the Senator representing the southern part of the state, was on “a criminal conspiracy, obtaining by false pretence and diversion of public resources for personal uses and abandonment of projects to the tune of ₦7.2 billion”.

In a statement made available to DAILY POST in Jalingo , the State capital, Thursday, the group could not fathom why the anti-graft commission had continued to drag its feet on the petition which according to them was submitted since last year.

Signed by both the chairman, Ismaila Tanko Alex and the secretary, Dauda Andokari Narinji, EFCC as demanded by them “should work on that petition as all needed evidences have been attached with for ease of investigations.”

The Senator, according to them “connived with various contractors and compromised government agents to divert money meant for Suntai Dam and confiscated it to Shinmo drilling riggs for his personal use and commercial gains.”

In the statement, the leadership of the group also pointed out how the Senator allegedly “collaborated with some government staff to come up with fake memorandum of understanding (MOU) taking over the Management of the Federal University of Wukari staff school to manage for 28years.”

Among other issues observed by DAILY POST to have also prompted the call include “construction of Achanyim road in Takum, under supply of laptops and desktops computers to Federal University Wukari, under supply of laboratory equipment worth ₦240 million, none supply of sporting wears to Federal University Wukari worth ₦210 million.”

Others as stated by them include “under supply of street lights at Federal University Wukari -worth ₦160 million naira, connection of Chanchanji to national grid through Takum – ₦145 million naira, repair and maintenance of Takum- Katsina Ala road of 15 kilometers and Dogon gawa, worth ₦224 million, construction of Takum Bisaula road worth ₦281 million naira, construction of phase two Takum wukari bridge road ₦145 million naira,”
among others.

Stating that the commission would be doing disservice to the people of the State and Nigerians at large by refusing to investigate the numerous petitions written against the Senator, they said “We are still waiting for EFCC to take action in the spirit of fairness and accountability.”

Since raising a point of Order in the floor of the upper chamber of the National Assembly indicting the State Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku of masterminding the arrest of fourteen youths from his senatorial district, the Senator, as noticed by DAILY POST, has been under severe attacks by different groups.
