Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has raised concerns about plans to mobilize groups to attack the newly sworn-in local government chairmen across the state. He revealed that there are efforts underway to gather 20 people per unit to confront the chairmen upon their return to their respective local government headquarters.
While addressing the newly elected officials during their swearing-in ceremony in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara urged them to remain calm and strategic in handling any threats they may face.
“I’m aware of plans to mobilize groups against you when you return to your local government offices,” Fubara said. “If they approach you with violence, avoid confrontation. The peace of Rivers State is paramount, and we cannot afford to let it be disrupted.”
He encouraged the newly elected chairmen, 22 from the Action Peoples Party and one from the Action Alliance, to remain patient and strategic in their leadership. “At the right time, you will prevail if you stay patient and calculative. We are committed to fulfilling our promises to the people and guiding them to a better future,” the governor concluded.
