Kano governor Abdullahi Ganduje has appointed a new emir of Rano.
Kabiru Mohammed Inuwa, the district head of Kibiya, replaces Tafida Abubakar who died last week hours after he was hospitalised.
The cause of his hospitalisation and death was not immediately certain.
Until his death, he was the first to rule over Rano, one of four emirates that emerged with the carving up of the Kano emirate.
This was contained in a statement issued by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abba Anwar on Tuesday and made available to reporters.
