Efforts to boost public infrastructures in the nation’s capital, Abuja, may have received the blessing of the Federal Executive Council as it got an approval of N56.2billion for construction of a car park for the light rail project as well as access road linking Kuje.
At the meeting presided over by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Wednesday, they deliberated on the memo presented by the FCT Minister, Mohammed Bello, before voting for funds to enable full scope development of Federal Capital Territory Highway 105, Kuje Road, from Airport Expressway to Kuje Junction Stage 1, Abuja at the cost of N54,946,009,160.04.
In a similar vein, FEC approved the contract for the construction of an access road and a car park for Abuja Light Rail Stations – situated at Gbazango Station Kubwa, Abuja – Lot 7 at the cost of N1,291,568,845.33, respectively.
The Kuje road project was awarded to Messrs Arab Contractors O. A. O Nigeria Limited with a completion period of 48 months, while that of rail car park was awarded in favour of Messrs CBC Global Civil and Building Construction Nigeria Limited with a completion period of eight months.
