Ann Eniyamire, the daughter of the late Justice Moses Bello, former President of the Customary Court of Appeal in Abuja, has petitioned Justice Husseini Baba-Yusuf, the Chief Justice of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to ensure justice in a contentious case.
She alleges that Reverend Father Ezekiel Awolumate and Joseph Asuku Bello, Executive Director at NELMCO, both executors of her father’s will, have disregarded court orders and attempted to manipulate court proceedings to hinder her inheritance.
In her petition, Eniyamire claims that Awolumate altered the will’s allocation, reducing her share from 11.11% to 4.16%, directly opposing her late father’s wishes to divide his assets among his widow and eight children evenly. Seeking to prevent further unauthorized actions, Eniyamire obtained an October 14 court order mandating that her father’s properties, particularly a valuable one on Panama Street, Maitama, Abuja, be marked “NOT FOR SALE” until the case is resolved. Justice M.A. Madugu also directed security forces to enforce this order.
However, Eniyamire alleges that the executors removed the court’s markings, violating the order. In response, she filed a contempt petition on October 25, accusing them of undermining judicial authority. Through her attorneys, she urged Justice Baba-Yusuf to guard against potential administrative interference that could jeopardize her case’s outcome.
Her petition has also been sent to numerous legal figures, including the Attorney General, Minister of Justice, and Chief Justice of Nigeria, to spotlight her concerns about fairness and judicial integrity in this complex inheritance dispute.
